Welcome to the home page for the British Columbia (BC) Chapter of APBP! The new APBP-BC local chapter will provide increased opportunities for knowledge-sharing and networking among existing members throughout the Province, and will encourage expanding the network of pedestrian and bicycle professionals who are members of APBP across the Province.

To launch the APBP-BC local chapter, a steering committee has been established to develop its vision, goals and programming for the next year, including creating a program to organize meetings, informal networking events, learning opportunities, and to continue to solicit ideas for the chapter’s goals and activities. The APBP-BC local chapter also seeks to develop responsive programming that meets the needs and interests of active transportation professionals throughout BC, while also raising APBP’s visibility and potential for membership growth. Some of the key activities that have been identified in the near term include:
• Chapter hosted APBP webinars
• Regular informal and formal meet-and-greets and networking events throughout BC
• Cycling and walking learning tours
• Other activities to spread awareness about walking and cycling issues and practices throughout BC.
Chapters events so far have included a meet and greet in March 2014 and a guided tour of bicycle facilities in the City of Vancouver in August 2014. Stay tuned for other upcoming events, including a guided bike tour of Victoria and the third annual Metro Vancouver Cycling Action Forum conference this fall!

We're looking for content and ideas for the page. Please message the administrator (Brian Patterson), or email me at bpatterson@urbansystems.ca and put "APBP-BC page" as the subject. I'd like to know what forum topics or blog ideas you'd like to see, photo albums you'd browse or build, and whatever else you'd care to tell me.
We look forward to hearing your ideas and sharing information about how to promote walking and cycling across BC! Welcome to the group! |
